Supervisors in Action
Effective Team Leader and Supervisor Development

THE NEED
Supervisory effectiveness is critical if managers are to get on with the task of management and teams are to be effectively led. Much supervisory training fails in that it is too theoretical and looks only at managing downwards, whereas effective supervision is the combination of aligned upwards and downwards management.

THE PROGRAMME
Through a series of incremental behaviour modelling processes, driven by our Supervisors in Action System, and peer evaluation, participants develop insights into the logic of upwards and downwards supervision and confidence in using the system.

THE OUTCOMES

  • The confidence to ask managers questions about what their task is,
  • to effectively lead their teams in carrying out the task and then to
  • report clearly to management on the outcomes
BUSINESS BENEFITS
To Participants: Supervisors develop absolute role clarity and the ability and confidence to maximise the supervisory value they add to the company, using the Supervisors in Action system. This enhances their own professional performance and self-image.

To Management: The benefits are extensive. Managers often end up ‘taking over’ the supervisors’ role at the expense of their own management responsibilities. With supervisors who are clarity and task focused – and who can measure effectiveness and report efficiently, managers can focus on their core value – management itself.

To the Business: Increased profitability, through:
  • Improved management-supervisor-staff communication
  • More effective task focus and performance reporting
  • More independent supervisors and liberated managers
  • More effective team operations
